Photography for an event has a different set of rules from portrait photography or just covering an after event party. There is a limited amount of time to cover the event as a whole, get the shots required (keynote, ribbon cutting, award presentations) and get the shots to the designated outlets (press, social media) in a timely manner rather than letting them gather dust in an album. The following covers event coverage and studio rental for those needing a photography space rather than an on site shooting location.
What is an “event”?
- Conferences
- Seminars
- Product launches
- Press events
- Award ceremonies
- Corporate headshots (either on-site or in studio)
- Portrait, product photo, and headshot studio rentals in Milton Keynes
How is an event covered?
- Shot lists should be agreed to before the shoot.
- A short call to discuss the details of the event, including what will be speaking, what will need to be captured for press, and even what VIPs and/or sponsors will need photos.
- The size of the venue, along with how many happenings will occur at once, should also be taken into account and the right number of people should be staffed to capture the event in the proper way.
FAQs
How many photographers are required for our event?
For a general estimate, one photographer is able to cover a single stage event or a gathering of about 100 – 150 people. Covering multiple concurrent sessions, stands or other possible press needs means that typically, a second photographer helps cover things that may be missed while the first is covering some other area.
Do you offer images for press or social media use same-day?
A small number of edited selection highlights are made available for same-day delivery for time-constrained press or social coverage, but only if this is pre-arranged.
Can studio hire be combined with an on-site shoot on the same day?
Studio and on-site coverage can be done as part of the same day, for example, studio headshots and then covering the on-site event. This is dependent on the distance of the venue and logistics and can be discussed at the time of booking.
Do you offer AV support (screens, mics, staging) for conferences?
Yes, this can be added to our AV hire service (see AV hire for events).
