If you’re looking for a Canon telephoto lens, the EF 70-200 mm f/2.8L II USM IS lens has to be considered. It’s perfect for those interested in sport, weddings, events and wildlife photography, and it features a two mode optical image stabilisation and a handy aperture range of f/2.8-32.
The image quality is very good, and with this lens you’ll certainly be labelled a ‘professional’ photographer. It is very heavy though, and it can take some getting used to, especially if you’ve been using a much smaller lens before now. The price isn’t exactly cheap, and you wouldn’t expect it to be considering its outstanding quality, but if there’s one piece of kit that you shouldn’t skimp on, it has to be the lens.
If you go for the previous version of this lens, you’ll get it for half the price, but in time you’ll need to update it and buy the new version, so why not save that little bit more and get the II USM lens, it certainly won’t let you down.
