Photography is a viable career and one that appeals to many creative, artistic and professional people. Events photography in particular requires a great deal of skill and dedication as well as the flexibility to travel to and work at events, potentially all over the UK.
Working as an events photographer for paying clients comes with challenges such as:
- Setting your hourly rate and making sure this is agreed with the client in advance
- Capturing the best images whilst on a tight, busy schedule during the event.
- Working long hours around the event.
- Getting good action shots whilst the event is taking place.
If you are up to these challenges and want to work as an events photographer, getting a portfolio together is a good start. Once you have experience from non paying events or jobs that are entry level, you can start to build this up and achieve higher paying event photography work.
